Once I saw that they couldn't even spell CHROME correct in the title, I could only watch the first 30 seconds or so before exiting. Lame..... :thumbdown:

A good coat of wax would work.

I like to soak parts in oxalic acid to remove rust. You can buy oxalic acid on e-bay for cheap and it works great.

The reason for having chrome in the first place is it's low maintenance. You could of course wax or keep coated with something. Hence, I'd paint it !

Mike - I use Oxalic Acid to remove corrosion. It is also known as Wood Bleach and is available at Ace Hardware here in the midwest. It is cheap and works very quickly.

As the OP said - good for the 10 foot job. The pits in the chrome stay. Only the ferrous oxide is removed. Wax is a must after that.

Tip: Never polish anything metal with steel wool. It leaves tiny iron findings in small pits. These will bloom rust very quickly.
