So I had the meet and greet in between sleeping and seeing the light of day. (night hours at work the past month) I had them examine my H1, then I pointed out the flaws I was aware of. Then I asked Taner to point out any he saw. He showed me two, correctable fortunately. Anyway, we dug right into what he could and could not have tooled. Hardware, rubber components, seat covers, not a problem. I asked about the gas tank, tail section and side cover kits for a 72 H2, as I had seen that in someone's wish list. They are available for the Z1 as explained in the members post, but the sad news is that there is not enough demand from triple owners at this time to make it profitable. He would have to sell something like 6000 kits, to make it a worthwhile endeavor. Tooling large pieces is obviously costly. To hear how a component comes to fruition, was quite interesting. He owns outright, the tooling for many items, as most of the suppliers do, and distributes some of those parts to other suppliers. I guess that's fairly common. I showed him the carb tops I acquired recently. He said they were not his. He took one of mine and today I received it back, along with three of his to place on my H1. The ones I purchased worked and fit fine, they are just not the exact look, something that did bug me. I attached photos for you to judge for yourselves. Again, they did their job and fit fine.
So the call out is to mention the part that you wish you could find a replacement of. A piece not available through any sources. I am going to supply a clutch lever cable adjuster nut and thumbscrew. The one that is too narrow to allow the fatter style sheath of an H1. It was a recent post by myself and then another member. The items in the "Parts Wanted" section will be brought to their attention, as well as any mentioned in this thread. I do not work for Z1 and I am not being paid. It is just a small way to have SOME contribution to this community that has helped me numerous times in a very short timespan. Many here offer services. Crank rebuilding, head and cylinder work, bead blasting, painting, gauge restoration, oil lines, chambers, etc.. This is just a way for me to be somehow connected in helping the community. I would loan a piece off of my H1 to ANY supplier looking to make that part available to us all. You guys with multiple bikes, parts bikes or rollers, could easily contribute.
I want to say that if any part of this thread is out of line, I would hope and expect that the Moderators will inform me and I would request the thread be removed immediately. I'm just trying to kick in somehow. There is a basic reward for the loan of any part, which is the return of the original and several of the new examples tooled from your part. A seat cover may just get you one new one. (let's be reasonable) This was immediately agreed upon, by both of them while they stood in my garage. So put your think caps on and remember your last build when you said "if only I could find one of these". They may be able to help us out in the future. It won't hurt to run it past them. Side note, I just last night placed an order with John over at Mid Atlantic. He has a very wide offering of parts and all of the items I ordered were in stock. I find his items to be top shelf. I grabbed bronze swing arm bushings, a new steering damper, rear brake shoes, copper exhaust port gaskets and a backup float bowl gasket set. He informed me it's a good idea to change the sleeves inside the swing arm bushings at the same time. I thanked him for the "heads up" and sent the additional funds. Seems everyone in this community just like to throw out advice and help each other out. That is all I am looking to do as well. I posted this at one other site, just to give you, mraxl, a heads up on that.
