Hello all,

I've been chatting pretty frequently to the owners of Z1parts.net. I'd like to say we have become friends via email. I'm excited to say I have a meet and greet scheduled with them at my home this weekend for a peek at my H1, but primarily to discuss the part needs of the Kawasaki Triples community. I've started a list of items that I plan to present to them while I have their ears, along with those listed under this topic. If there were any part, or kit, that you wished were readily available, they would certainly like to know about it. Short notice, yes, but if posts are made after this weekend, I'll be sure they are made aware of any requests that follow. Looking to expand their services, I'm excited to help them, anyone here and in the community as a whole, any way I can. Enjoy the weekend all.

Just my 2 cents....

H1
1969-70 primered only gas tank set
1969-71 front fender
1969-71 distributor caps & rotors

all of course nearly identical to the originals or don't bother...

So I had the meet and greet in between sleeping and seeing the light of day. (night hours at work the past month) I had them examine my H1, then I pointed out the flaws I was aware of. Then I asked Taner to point out any he saw. He showed me two, correctable fortunately. Anyway, we dug right into what he could and could not have tooled. Hardware, rubber components, seat covers, not a problem. I asked about the gas tank, tail section and side cover kits for a 72 H2, as I had seen that in someone's wish list. They are available for the Z1 as explained in the members post, but the sad news is that there is not enough demand from triple owners at this time to make it profitable. He would have to sell something like 6000 kits, to make it a worthwhile endeavor. Tooling large pieces is obviously costly. To hear how a component comes to fruition, was quite interesting. He owns outright, the tooling for many items, as most of the suppliers do, and distributes some of those parts to other suppliers. I guess that's fairly common. I showed him the carb tops I acquired recently. He said they were not his. He took one of mine and today I received it back, along with three of his to place on my H1. The ones I purchased worked and fit fine, they are just not the exact look, something that did bug me. I attached photos for you to judge for yourselves. Again, they did their job and fit fine.

So the call out is to mention the part that you wish you could find a replacement of. A piece not available through any sources. I am going to supply a clutch lever cable adjuster nut and thumbscrew. The one that is too narrow to allow the fatter style sheath of an H1. It was a recent post by myself and then another member. The items in the "Parts Wanted" section will be brought to their attention, as well as any mentioned in this thread. I do not work for Z1 and I am not being paid. It is just a small way to have SOME contribution to this community that has helped me numerous times in a very short timespan. Many here offer services. Crank rebuilding, head and cylinder work, bead blasting, painting, gauge restoration, oil lines, chambers, etc.. This is just a way for me to be somehow connected in helping the community. I would loan a piece off of my H1 to ANY supplier looking to make that part available to us all. You guys with multiple bikes, parts bikes or rollers, could easily contribute.

I want to say that if any part of this thread is out of line, I would hope and expect that the Moderators will inform me and I would request the thread be removed immediately. I'm just trying to kick in somehow. There is a basic reward for the loan of any part, which is the return of the original and several of the new examples tooled from your part. A seat cover may just get you one new one. (let's be reasonable) This was immediately agreed upon, by both of them while they stood in my garage. So put your think caps on and remember your last build when you said "if only I could find one of these". They may be able to help us out in the future. It won't hurt to run it past them. Side note, I just last night placed an order with John over at Mid Atlantic. He has a very wide offering of parts and all of the items I ordered were in stock. I find his items to be top shelf. I grabbed bronze swing arm bushings, a new steering damper, rear brake shoes, copper exhaust port gaskets and a backup float bowl gasket set. He informed me it's a good idea to change the sleeves inside the swing arm bushings at the same time. I thanked him for the "heads up" and sent the additional funds. Seems everyone in this community just like to throw out advice and help each other out. That is all I am looking to do as well. I posted this at one other site, just to give you, mraxl, a heads up on that.

The Photo bucket site was down earlier, so here are the photos of the carb tops. From left to right, my torn but best example, z1's reproduction and the reproductions I purchased. Again, it fit well and keeps the dust out, so it does what it was designed to do, just lacking the stock look where it seals the cable. I will post the small wish list I have after dinner.

Just a repeat from your original thread:

For the 69-71 H1: cap and rotor with brass inserts, as well as brake shoes with modern shoe material.

Left and Right S2 side covers for the 72 model (no emblem holes), plus the oil tank side for the 73 S2a:

And this!

Maybe there is also a demand for the smaller all-transparent pockets for the 70-72 H1 seat...?

Here are a few items I'd like to see available for my 75 H1 as well as some other general stuff.

A Basic Carburetor Rebuild Kit with "Mikuni" parts that we could actually use.
Gear Shift Adjusters - Aside from the German release, a stock replacement.
Bolts with the correct stamp on the top of the head, applicable lengths.
The filter/screen in the oil tank bottom cap. (source available, comment posted below)
A better throttle cable with the correct elbow and cable lengths.
The rubber "Spare Fuse Holder" and correct length fuses.
Fuse holder and wire that clips to the battery box.
Paint match for the purplish treatment on the master cylinder and brake perch. (faded black anodizing, comment posted below)
Late H1 Seat Cover. (with correct pleats)

New caps with screen are already available from a few sources...

I believe those are all supposed to be black anodized, the purple is what you get when it fades. You don't want to match that... :x

I think Kawasaki meant for it to be BLACK, but it turned out purple.

Ive had a few nos brake parts over the years and all have had that dark "purple" hue to them....which then fade to a light purple/brown/tan/crap color.

......if you rub-back black paint, you often get a purplish residue, I know the m/cyls are not painted, but the point is the same!! :D

Interesting info on the purple finish I see on many triple master cylinders. As far as the oil tank caps with screens, if someone sees them and could post a link, I'd appreciate that as mine is rather weathered and the cap a bit worn. A swipe of RTV on the threads sealed the seepage and a copper screen from the plumbing aisle is what I placed in the cap. If replacements are available, I'd spend a few dollars to have a sound piece.
