He could do with some advice if you live close? He bought a CDI off me to replace the faulty original A and B boxes (H1a) but also has carburettor problems too. So, you may like to help another frustrated triple owner. He has several bikes evidently.

Well...I'm 35 miles away and he's about 1/2 way between me and my folks. So I'm close. I'll help if I can.

What '72 are you rebuilding? I did some testing of H2 coils in this old thread: http://www.kawasakitriplesworldwide.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=53001

Generally, the ones that Starfire recommended ^ are the smallest, cheapest ones, and work fine if not enclosed without air flow. The approx. $100 black reproduction H2 coils fit without any modifications or brackets, and the Dynatek DC9-4 coils made slightly better sparks than stock.

Jim,
Apparently the old site is dead and I wanted to look at your coils thread. I may be in the market for new coils for my H1F and wondering what the best options are...

Jim, late H1 coils need to have both primary leads available because neither one is tied to ground. That lets out the H2 reproduction coils I tested. I think you could use the little, inexpensive moped coils (green=ground, black=positive), and all reports are good for those. Also, I think the Dynatek coils would be OK, but they're bigger than stock, not cheap, and sold in pairs. I think those are part number DC9-4. If you use the moped coils, check to be sure they don't have resistor caps, and change them if they do.

I have a set of files for that coil test thread, so the information is not lost.

Thanks Jim,
Are OEM coils unobtainium or uber expensive? I don't mind buying the right parts if it's within reason. "little inexpensive moped coils" is a little vague. Are they that generic, as long as the lead colors are as described?

i just ordered little mped coils, have them on the s2 and the frog. they work great.

like these. i swear... its crazy how cheap they are. you will need to replace the plug caps as those are crap.

order 6, have a spare set.
