Believe it or not, I started this project back in 2006! As I was not prepaired to waste two sets of H2 crank cases I got Alan Millyard to do that part of the process for me. He has after all got a lot of experience doing these conversions. I therefore don't have any pictures of that part of the conversion.

Since I got the cases back I just became too busy with work & moving house to continue any further. With work commitments and then becoming poorly, I never got much of a chance to put any decent amount of hours into it. I did manage a while back to spend a few weeks on it getting the motor finished and put back together. It is now parked up on my lift and will be the next job I start as soon as I finish this next run of treatment. Hopefully, by Christmas I will be working on it full time as I really want to complete it.

Here's another shot of the output shaft:

If you have access to, or are a good welder, I don't think it would be too hard to do if you measure & cut everything really carefully. I believe the hardest bit is welding the cases together with the minimum amount of distortion and a good welder would be able to do that.

All I need to finish mine is weld up the exhausts (stainless Higgspeeds), make a few brackets, modify the alternator assembly & ignition backplate and do all the paint work. The rest involves bolting all the refurbished and new bits onto it! :)

im a shitty welder but i am friends with an EXCEPTIONAL aluminum welder and hes on board already. That looks great....

q on the crank, did you have to relocate the alignment pins? I know S2 cranks have them, not sure about H2 cranks.

There aren't any alignment pins to worry about on the H2 crank. Just make sure the the grooved bearing is in the correct place when assembling crank.

If I don't get moving with it you'll be beating me with your build!

FYI: I went for a 1-3-4-2 firing order instead of the 1-2-3-4 that some others have opted to use. Roger Ramm changed the firing order on his 500 four (666) to the same as mine and reported it was much smoother and had less vibration. We both use two triggers at 90 deg with two magnets at 180 apart to fire two duel output coils so you get a wasted spark on each 90 deg firing. I have used two Petronix triggers.

I will also mention that my engine is fully rubber mounted using the Suzuki Silent Bloc bushes. I don't think anyone else is running an H2 4-cylinder with rubber mounts as far as I'm aware?

Hmmm...
What could be badder than a ported, reeded, 750cc 2-stroke, triple drag bike?
Perhaps a ported, reeded 1000cc 2-stroke quadruple drag bike; assume that swinger was not meant for road racing.
Spectacular as usual Chris.
Have no doubts that Mark can/will build something equaly as inovative and cool.

I would think the extra weight hanging off each end would create handling problems flying into a corner...... but then again I guess these extra cylinder specials are not built for speed/handling, they are more eye candy  which IMO is a totaly waist. :shh: They do look cool as hell though and since I have never ridden one, I will just :silent: I guess I will have to wait for Demshock to buy one so I can ride it  That guy is my hero!

Engineering projects are always cool to me. But adding cylinders to a motor that is already too wide goes against the grain for me also. Seems a lot of work just to not to need a kickstand..........

JayDav & John,

I know it will look like eye candy but it's eye candy to me too! I also get a real buzz out of making stuff, so that's why I did it. I also wanted it to be more "Grand Tourer" than "Mega Fast Hyper Handler". I'm not a fast road rider anyway and only want it to tickle along at 75mph on the way up to meetings & shows, etc.

If you guys ever get the chance to open up a 4-cyl H2 with nice chambers on, I bet the hairs on the back of your necks stick right up!

S2 has minimal rotating mass. Total increase in width will be 1.8 inches per side. so.. it should be really great IMHO and will probably handle darn well. Not going to go into an S2 frame BTW............ :shh:

I think it would make a great project. A 440cc, 4 cylinder two stroke would sound awesome. The parts won't cost too much either. I think what Allan did when he welded up my cases was make up a dummy crank that you could bolt all the cases too to keep them in line whilst welding. They put a huge amount of preheat into it as well and I believe it was heat treated afterwards.

What sort of frame would you be using or are you keeping quiet about the details at the moment?

rd frame... they actually are wider and have more room in the cradle for a triple motor. I also have a mono shock swingarm on the way. in general, are just better geometry wise.
I planned on some type of a 'crank blank' actually.

Chris, U got a pic of the crank? How did U phaze the rod journals, one every 90 degrees or 180?
