The bar ends I have let you take off the expansion part and clamp them right to the bar. I moved the grips in about 3/8" and everything fits well.

Hi guys..... a (relatively) big-bore, aluminium, air cooled engine is always going to rattle, and for me that is part of the H2 experience. I bought 1 new in '72, and proceeded to do short-circuit production racing for several years, and a whole heap of street miles, racing thru the Adelaide hills, top speed contests, that sort of thing. I went into the mid '80's with that bike, and clocked up something like 80,000 miles, (no speedo issues), after a while it became a bit of a joke to see how long it would last. I put a set of rings in it at some stage, and it was interesting that the performance didn't degrade much at all over that time, and the crank and seals seemed fine. But we would all laugh at how much it rattled. After that I started building cranks, and getting port work done, Wiseco pistons, etc. etc. At the same time, people were getting rebores at 5,000 miles, changing oils all the time, putting in oil-line filters, etc. and they were the ones always having trouble. They are a tough engine! I have had no experience with Wossner pistons, some guys say they are a lot quieter. But if you are worried about rattly engines, get a Honda, or something!! (BTW, the whole time I had that bike, I used Valvoline 2-stroke oil, and had no issues!)

Thanks Rod. I know you've told the story before, but I never get tired of it. :)

How are you, Jim, I hope you avoided the flooding recently, I'm thinking you are further inland, perhaps!?

Thanks for asking, Rod. We live at a lake about 120 miles from the coast, on a gentle slope about 20 feet above the level of the dam's spillway, so there is no way for our place to flood. As you know, this storm dumped huge amounts of water on NC, and the 50,000 acre lake has risen nearly 10 feet. But it's still 11 feet below its maximum. The storm passed well south of us, so we got winds around 20 mph and a couple inches of rain.

  Funny because its true! (and boring)

Good to hear Jim , natural disasters freak me out, I read Carl got hit hard by him. Its just such a helpless feeling.
We got hit by a tornado 8 years ago, took out the neighborhood, no one got hurt but millions in property damage.
Took me 4+ months to rebuild and get back living in my house and I was one of the first done, many where out 8 months!

I think we are way off topic I can't even remember what this thread was about....
