Hi guys..... a (relatively) big-bore, aluminium, air cooled engine is always going to rattle, and for me that is part of the H2 experience. I bought 1 new in '72, and proceeded to do short-circuit production racing for several years, and a whole heap of street miles, racing thru the Adelaide hills, top speed contests, that sort of thing. I went into the mid '80's with that bike, and clocked up something like 80,000 miles, (no speedo issues), after a while it became a bit of a joke to see how long it would last. I put a set of rings in it at some stage, and it was interesting that the performance didn't degrade much at all over that time, and the crank and seals seemed fine. But we would all laugh at how much it rattled. After that I started building cranks, and getting port work done, Wiseco pistons, etc. etc. At the same time, people were getting rebores at 5,000 miles, changing oils all the time, putting in oil-line filters, etc. and they were the ones always having trouble. They are a tough engine! I have had no experience with Wossner pistons, some guys say they are a lot quieter. But if you are worried about rattly engines, get a Honda, or something!!

(BTW, the whole time I had that bike, I used Valvoline 2-stroke oil, and had no issues!)
