I can't remember; is the outer ring different?
There are NOS rings for cheap on eBay.

The H1 doesn't have the ring.

ahhhh, I did not realize the H2 clutch spins "faster".. The ring makes sense then.

But doesn't this mean that the H2 transmission shafts then spin at 28.4% higher speeds than an H1 gear box? And aren't final gearing between H1 and H2's pretty close?....meaning, for engine rpm, an H2's tranny (and therefore final gearing..to rear tire) would be spinning overall faster????

just trying to wrap my mind around it.

They are talking about that and I'm confusing the outer rings with the wavy rings between plates.

it's 2.41 to 1.88 primary reduction. So even at 11000 rpm that's not even 6000 rpm on the clutch hub. I doubt one could get 1mm centripetal deflection at 20,000 rpm clutch hub speed........ :roll:

Has anybody here actually witnessed (in person) an H2 clutch basket failure from normal street riding due to the omission of the ringofdeath?

Once again.. STREET RIDDEN H2's only.

We all know how race bikes are treated (especially drag bikes)

Probably not, but isn't putting the ring on one of the easiest things to do, working on a H2 - O.K, they can be a bit hard to find, but...... I mean , what are the Advantages of running without??? But hey, to quote CSN&Y "we have all been here before...." :roll:

Hell I beat the hell out of my H2 motor for years, even dynoing, track days and road racing, not a problem. I can see the need in drag racing with clutch dumping and such.

If you have one, then use it, if not, not a big deal. :thumbup:
