Check your junk folder maybe? I replied around 11:20 this morning:

Quote:
Mike,

H2s have the battery charging rectifier/regulator in a single unit.
It's the one with the finned aluminum housing. I'd need to know more to
help you, but I'll warn you that the CDI system does not get power from
the battery, so don't expect or try to connect 12V to that.

The resource site has manuals and wiring diagrams, in case you don't
have them. It also has any other information you could possibly want:

Thanks again Jim, this is a 72 which appears to have separate rectifier/regulator? But understand about power to CDI. Just going through connections and grounds, I do have Tailight in acc key position, need to check out ignition switch.

OK, the '72 still has a combined rectfier/regulator, but it also has an external diode between the regulator output (red wire) and the battery. The regulator didn't have internal reverse current blocking, and tended to drain the battery if the bike was parked for a couple weeks, so they added the blocking diode, which is that oddball thing with the square metal heat sink. Eventually the rectifier/regulators got internal blocking and the external diode was eliminated.

Maybe check the headlight bulb to see if it's burned out.

It could be a bad connection somewhere or something else like that, but when I got my Yamaha DT100 running this spring, I found both headlight filaments burned out, all four turn signal bulbs and the tail/stop bulb not working from corrosion in the sockets, and all the instrument bulbs burned out.

Success! Thanks for all the suggestions, cleaned all frame grounds, wire connectors etc have power all lights, horn , signals work as they should. Can't pinpoint what it was because nothing looked bad or corroded.
