Finally after 5 months I have all the parts restored and purchased and I am putting the H2 together. I hauled everything out to the garage and started test fitting and assembling. I got the chrome back yesterday and laced the back wheel and realized that 20 of my NOS spokes for the front wheel had been delivered to someone else back in March so I got out 20 of the old spokes and fired up the Caswell kit and made em like new. I put the back wheel on the bike to use it as a truing stand, it worked well. So far the only two things I can think of that are reproduction are the seat and pipes, everything else is original or NOS. Tomorrow I will press on!

Is all that stuff that appears to be cadmium plated, done with the Caswell plating stuff you have, and, at your place? Or, are all those parts anodized, instead of cad plated?

If so, how much of it was done for how mush raw materials, and, it looks GREAT!

I used the Caswell kit on just about all the formerly cad plated parts, steering damper pieces, bolts, axles, etc., and I used the Caswell yellow chromate on all the anodized stuff like the CDI's, spoke nipples, screws, washers and such. I am very happy with the Caswell kit, It would be a lot tougher job without it. I bought the 1.5 gal kit and the smallest chromate bottle they had and I haven't even burned through the original zinc anodes yet. And that's after doing all the stuff on the B8 too.

Man...that is nice work, great result, and sounds like something a lot of us need when we restore finishes.

Nothing on a triple was ever cadmium plated. There were zinc plated parts that had a natural color and zinc plated parts that had the yellow chromate color. Anodizing is a finish applied to aluminum, never steel.

Well, the front brake master cylinder was anodized and dyed black, or "black anodized". There were a other few aluminum parts that were anodized, I think.
