Hello. Do they make a correct piston for a very early H2 with square cut jugs? If so whats the best brand on the market.

Thanks

The Wossners are a modern design, with coated skirts, etc. and are a lot cheaper than that - type "wossner" in the search box top right. No experience with them myself, but a lot of good reports on this site!

I'm running Wossners in my 75 H2, with early H2 cylinders like you describe. Runs very good IMO. I purchased my piston kit from http://www.fastfromthepast.com/servlet/the-Pistons-cln-Kawasaki-H2-750/Categories.

When ordering the Wossners, don't forget about these: http://www.fastfromthepast.com/servlet/the-1030/Small-End-Rod-Bearing/Detail

You will find that the Wiseco or Wossner are a better piston, you'll also find that nowadays the Wisecos are coated as well

I just put a set of Wossners in my H2B just like pictured by kaw3cyl, as he said, get the silver plated small end bearings and the whole kit, pins and rings. They are really nice and the machine work is second to none, they feel lighter as well and molly coated. Then Moo cleaned up the ports an raised the cutouts to match the pistons, widened the exhaust a bit, cleaned up the transfers and Intakes.......runs real good now.........and no longer sounds like a coffee grinder

FYI: If you go this route, re-torque your head bolts after each ride and then cool down cycle until they hold, H2 is 30.4 ft lbs........I am on my third time and am still getting them to turn a bit

Also, I left the motor in my frame, started a piston into the cylinder (do C then L then R), then leave the piston pin hole exposed in the cylinder, then drop the cylinder down partially on the motor, then put the pin and clips in each side........easy one man job

Thanks for all the information and advise. I'm going to try to hire Ron to put my motor back together for me. He lives about 50 minutes away. I know he does good work and it would be safer this way.

Ron seems to do a lot of them and knows the transmissions as well, I thought about that myself next year when I do a new crank. I don't think I would have a problem doing it myself but what to look for in the gears and dog's, what is normal wear vs a problem part, shimming the trans, new circlips and that sort of thing could be a problem. His bikes are first class......and he is a Ferrari Mechanic......and only 50 miles away

+1 on this method - much easier. Phil, you also pre-install one of the pin clips before inserting the piston in the cylinder, right? One less clip to bother with.
