When i spoke with purple75 AFTER rick had already bought it an hour ago at that time.... he was a nice guy to talk to sounded like this was a piece of his dad to remember him by
and it was really hard to let that go seriously he mentioned it a lot in the conversation........ anyone on this forum could, i hope understand, ( he's also an armed forces veteran too, served our country over seas 2 times in IRAQ.

show respect to someone that is the reason we can enjoy the freedoms of our everyday lives. you know he's reading all your comments cause he was on here and erased all his info

Hmm...well that is interesting?

The guy told me on the phone...and I quote... "I want to get the most $$ out of it that I can"....

I wonder what changed in that few hours?

That's the thing with a new guy on this forum, we don't know his character. If he did truly decide
to keep it because it was his Dads, I could understand that. Not knowing his side of the story,
who knows.

Probably the fact that he got 50 combined emails and phone calls in the first 3 hours from people around the country telling him he should keep it and that hes giving it away for that price....given sentimental value to him. The first time i talked to him was in the afternoon and at that time with all the response to the ad he never mentioned trying to get the most for it, he set a price and was going with that

Thanks Rick for the update. I am sure everyone has had this happen to them to one extent or the other. What ever the reason, in the big picture, thats life.
Not selling any of my bikes. The 74 H2 frame and matching cases does not count , LOL . FYI i only posted once in the for sale section, learned my lesson not to do that.

If you are selling something for the money, and you don' know what its worth and you get 500 calls an hour later saying I'll give you 2K more than what you sold it for( if the bike is not gone) ,or what you are going to sell it for,no wonder the kid changed his mind !!!!! People who buy triples are their own worse enemies !!!! All the people that turn these bikes for a profit see easy money and all the people that collect these bikes know that they are getting hard to find, thus consider yourself lucky if you find one that you can get for cheap( or lets just say cheaper than market value),same with triple parts !!!!!!! I just don't understand why people don't do their homework before they sell something,it would save a lot of trouble !!!!!!

Conflicting stories for sure. If he did make a deal with RB, and backed out, that's just crappy, no matter what the reason.........

it needs to be done here too.

Some forums don't let you edit your posts after a certain amount of time either. That can save a lot of good information from going missing when someone gets mad and wants to take their ball home with them.

I found an ad for an H2 motor in Edmonton AB. The ad said it was rebuilt and only started once...he said it had new Yamaha rods, new Wisecos all new seals and bearings - ported stage II cylinders, back-cut transmission and came with 38mm round slide Mikunis and a set of FBG stingers. He wanted $500 for it. I emailed right away and said I would take it and could give him a deposit, to which he replied that he had one guy "ahead of me" and countless guys after that. He also said the motor had been moved into a storage unit and wouldn't be available for a couple of months - I said "no problem" but figured I had heard the last of the deal. Two months later, he emails and says he never heard from buyer number one and wondered if I was still interested...I called him. He said he had received literally 100s of calls and had been offered $1500 for the motor, but A deal is a deal. I offered to Paypal or wire transfer the money but he said not to bother until I arranged to pick it up. A couple of weeks later my sister picked it up for me an dropped off the cash...since the deal had taken so long, the guy kindly threw in two sets of H2 iggy boxes and a spare set of coils.

The seller knew the value of the motor...but his reputation was not for sale.

hmmmm. me thinks thou dost protest too much Mitch (Metric34)

Who freaking cares how many phone calls and emails he got? The guy set his price, gave his word, accepted the money and then backed out. That makes him a LIAR regardless of the reason. I call BULLCRAP that keeping it has anything to do with "sentimental value".. it's all Monetary.

Why was he even fielding phone calls or talking to you hours after he made the deal?
I'm sure you were kind enough to "inform" him (after the deal was made) of the value of the bike repeatedly. You say that spoke with him more than once?? Why the heck would you be speaking to him more than once? That makes no sense.. (unless you were trying to gain something)

If I call on a bike, and the guy says. "sorry, but the bike is sold".. I'm out. I don't keep calling him back to talk about the weather.

Sounds like a good human being. His action shouldn't even be commended.. It should be the "norm"!!!

The world's moral compass is so messed up it makes me sick.
