So, it was all to no avail . . . . Trying to buy a bike whilst you are on a 1,500 mile road trip isn't easy at best, but I managed the paypal deposit instantly, I then spent a while with the bank to make sure that the funds were in place and mailed out a.s.a.p. I even had a war of words with Cody about the purchase, I told him it was a "keeper" and he could ride it as and when he came over, this afternoon the seller contacted me as asked for assurance that the payment was on its way, I checked with the bank and it was . . . . for which he thanked me . . . . . . and then texted me an hour later to say he was no longer selling it! :banghead :banghead I wouldn't have minded so much but :
.

1, it was a keeper and not for resale
2, I turned down several other bikes on my 1,500 mile trip that I could have bought and sold and paid for the trip with :e4
.
I'm a bit pissed, I was born and grew up in an age when a persons word was their bond . . . . . . . Just a sign of the times I suppose :(

+1. A person should keep their word, whether in person or over the phone. For whatever reason the seller had that caused him to change his mind, whether to in fact keep it for himself after all, sell to an interested party local to him, or list on eBay in hopes of obtaining a higher dollar amount...doesn't matter, you commit to selling to someone, you keep your word, that's it, that's all, end of story.

Then again, how many times has a newbie's first posting been for a sale item, and ended poorly...?

Some forums require you be a member for a period of time before you can sell something. Maybe
it needs to be done here too.

that sucks and they should have to be on here a while before they can sell as i have seen many people ask for help needing a part real cheap only to see someones good heart being sold on ebay for a profit.

My gut tells me that he got a "better" offer... and if that's the case, shame on the seller and shame on the buyer.

A man is NOTHING without his word.

and another thing... these bikes have attracted a lot of, what I like to call "Investors" over the last few years. We've got a healthy share of these people locally (Minneapolis).
The only thing they care about is how much "value$$$" that they add to their portfolio. :e9 :e9 :e9

Dealing with Newbies SUCKS, and even worse is dealing with people that try to come off as a true Enthusiast, telling you what you think you want to hear, only to find out they are in it for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$...

A bit of advice. If you are about to deal with a member that you are unsure of, check their "Profile Page" to see where they spend most of their time (Most Active Forum). If its the "FOR SALE" section, this should be a big clue to their intentions.

When i spoke with purple75 AFTER rick had already bought it an hour ago at that time.... he was a nice guy to talk to sounded like this was a piece of his dad to remember him by
and it was really hard to let that go seriously he mentioned it a lot in the conversation........ anyone on this forum could, i hope understand, ( he's also an armed forces veteran too, served our country over seas 2 times in IRAQ.

show respect to someone that is the reason we can enjoy the freedoms of our everyday lives. you know he's reading all your comments cause he was on here and erased all his info
