They got some skills.
And I liked the part about the quality of their engine. It holds race after race, so they don't need a container full of engines brought out to every dragrace event like some American teams have. Therefor the costs for running that team is much much lower than for many of the competitors, since they change components on the engine during events, not just throw in a new engine.

To be fair, the US teams are not allowed to make their own engines, rules dictate the use of production engines of a limited size. Not taking anything away from the Swedish team, any bike that can go that fast is amazing.

Surely I thought that was just lip service about sticking the sponsoring makers name onto a home built bike. Wasn't Larry's same Puma bike sometimes called a Kawasaki and sometimes a Suzuki depending on who was funding it?

Hal, it looks like I spoke before having the facts in front of me. There was some controversy about the Sparta Team's motor when they broke the record, something about capacity and auto-derived design and how it wasn't really an good comparison due to current rules in the US on engine size and design. There was a period when the engines were limited to around 1,500cc and had to be based on a production engine. The Puma design was the industry standard for years and it was based on a motorcycle design. Ian King now owns the company, I think...sh*t, quoting facts without full knowledge again.

Sparta did come to the US last month for the big manufacturer's cup race and they made it all the way to the finals where they met Larry McBride. Great race, won by Larry but they were both flying.

FYI: Pulled out the last IDBA rule book and there are no specified requirements stated for top fuel bikes, just a note to write the home office if you would like a full list of rules for the class. With the Man-Cup being the only big race for these bikes there may not be any existing rules regarding capacity or design.

Anyway: This kind of motorsport amazes me. The raw brutal power, often "found" in someones garage. It is so far off Formula 1 you can get. Motorsports for the man in the street, can't be better than that.

I have been to several dragrace events on Gardermoen Raceway Track, but never seen triples in action. (but top fuel, Liv Berstad) Plan to visit UK in mid july, and hope maybe team Bill will come over as well??

Hmmmm..........I have a dream, some day I will race my own triple. Just for fun and maybe see the 9's.

Trygve has two nice triple dragbikes now and he should be racing at Gardemon this year. We may talk him into the Dragstagia race in July.
