 Post subject: Tank Cleaning

I have picked up a older motorcycle and it has been sitting for a lot of years.
Gas tank smells like old old paint thinner in it but no rust, but tank is all muck and such inside. (smell is very very strong :e9 )
What works to get this crap out of the tank?

Acetone will usually break up the goop.

If that doesn't work, try lacquer thinner, carefully, outdoors.
