the only valuable info you miss is: with the reeds directly fit on the crankcases there are no trouble for the airflow (fuel+air) by the conrod.
With other words, the airflow isn't disturbed by the conrod.
But we already know cause some more modern two strokes work like this without trouble.

JP, if what you are saying is correct that means that the two world record holders, the owner of the biggest racing snowmobile collection the USA as well as the engine builder of one of the most powerful H2s who gave me advice must have known what they were talking about. Go figure !!!

Many tuners don't totally agree on the same things, doesn't make one right or the other wrong. I heard the opposite from another well known 2 stroke tuner that works with many different 2 strokes from vintage to modern.

Since it seems your feelings were hurt because i didn't say much about your project, what was the reasoning behind the redesign from horizontal reed boxes to vertical boxes? The motor seemed to run very well with the first configuration.

I like both of you very much, but you really need to call a truce.

Rod's right, John, but the problem is on both sides, and needs to be taken off the board if it has to continue. Maybe you could meet in Kansas, have a good dinner and some beer together, and figure out how to be friends.
