Burned by Home Depot again. Needed a tarp, would like to have for this weekend. Checked HD online, 3 in stock my size at my store.

Get there - crap for selection. Not the heavy duty at all at stated - and the selection of tarps was 4 of the poly only and a couple of painter tarps. Was not an out of stock issue - the shelf area was too small and no open spots.

Asked an associated (surly bastard too) he said "naw, they're all in pain" where I was. But I know this store pretty good so checked the possible alternates - Nope - Nada.

Onto the internet, top choices were these guys and I was so impressed I emailed them (copy below).

Subject: Best experience ever!

The Big Box stores are in trouble.

More and More they lure you in only to NOT have what you want, they want you to order on-line.

Fine, I’ll order online, I do a fair amount of that anyway. But I won’t support the Big Box store for it.

I found you folks, and my experience was stellar. I found a much better product from a much better product selection – and a resource for other stuff too.

Your website was well laid out and easy to use. Check-out was a Breeze! Your store email receipt came right in – awesome. Please let your IT people or whoever did this for you know that a fellow IT person appreciates a well done job.

You are bookmarked!

Thanks again,
bb

Good for you Barry. I just had a bad experience at Harbor Freight. I needed a 4th tool box and there 56" 11
drawer was on sale for $699 with a coupon. I called Wednesday after work to our local store and asked if
they had one in stock. They told me that they did and I asked if I could buy it online and then just drive over
and pick it up. Was told no, it would have to be shipped for 89.99. Took a chance and drove over and just my luck they just sold it. On top of that there was only one person in the store at the register, and she was on the phone. Walked back to the warehouse and a guy said they are getting a shipment in Thursday. So yesterday I call back and get the same girl one the phone, she remembered me too. I asked if any 56" boxes came in. Was told they did have
one but I didn't want to drive another half hour just to turn around again.

Called another store 1 hour away and talked to the manager. He went back and checked that they had one
in stock and said he would hold it for me. Great, drove down and was in and out of that store in 10min.
So I got the box but some local stores suck to deal with, some have great service.

I buy 95% of everything online these days. Usually the item is shipped within a day. Very rarely do I ever get
poor service online. As a added bonus I try and buy out of state so I don't have to pay Ca sale tax

Know what you mean Ron. I try to buy local, I try to support the little guy first, then the chain stores since they employ people, but there is Never any excuse for poor customer service - period. If I experience it - I'm as fast to write and email and if important enough even a formal letter. I will also do the same for exemplary service too.
