Here's a short side-car clip I took in June 2009 at our favorite spot on the mountain. We were there again this year - 2011 at the same spot - this is the last bit of dirt on the road, the paving project is just about done as I write this post. Next year 100% pavement, with it's own challenges.

This is the second oldest race in the US - years of action on the dirt, then dirt/pavement and now all pavement.
If anyone is planning a trip to Colorado Springs this is something to schedule your vacation on.

This is Monster at the Devils Playground (near the finish). My first year Liz and I were at this area but the weather is very cold Even in summer and it can change in the blink of an eye - from 80 degree's to blizzard snow in minutes with lightening all around - scarey!

Lots of crashes this year and Monster broke his own record - the crowd was happy for Monster. He may be from Japan but he's well liked here.

I'm sure most if not all the vintage stuff is Ric. Elevation at the start is 9,390feet and the finish at 14,110. There are no fewer than 11 classes of racers ranging from 250cc motors to 8,000 pound big rig trucks but the classes are always being added too. Here's a link to the results this year, you can see why it takes all day to run the race. Note: On the roster/times below, in the 1205 Motorcycle, Alexander Smith is Malcom Smith's son, he placed 3rd in his class:
