A modern 750?
We all love that rush from when a big triple "gets on the pipe"
Not saying a modern bike won't run a much faster ET, but does a modern 4-stroke have that crude & rude acceleration that makes one smile (or cringe depending on if the bike is still upright)

The only modern bike I've ridden lately was Evans ZRX and I only rolled it on from about 40 to 100 MPH
(He was behind me on my H2 and really didn't want to flog his bike)
As I recall, very controllable with a hard pull but not the stupid gymnastics of an H2

Thoughts?

Bike manufacturers design engines to create a smooth power rush. That way riders don't get caught out with a power hit in the wrong place.

The triples power band "hit" just comes from the motors running crappy before the motor systems get in sync.

John got me thinking - and back in the day long ago I remember my H2 "hitting" but over recent years with mods and more attention to tuning it does not do that anymore. It's smooth all through the go-fast and keeps going. It's a wicked-pissah

Will have to disagree about a 100 HP H2 having a linear power band like an electric motor
Agreed that modern 4-strokes are pretty linear at the same displacement

You can accelerate hard on a modded H2 from 30 to 110mph, 0n a modern bike, (I have a zx10r) it goes hard from 80 to 160mph. (New joke : The zx10r is just like a 250 around town, but without all the torque!!)

I don't see anyone saying a 100 hp triple will have a power band like an electric motor. :eh:

And acceleration is dependant on gearing and hp to weight ratio. The only real 750 now is the Gixxer 750 which is 422lbs. wet, 128 hp and a 10.27 1/4 @ 136 mph. 167 mph top speed. So it would eat a modded H2 pretty easy.

Exactly

As mentioned above.

my SB6 (Suzuki GSXR 1100 94-95 engine) pushs hard from 20 MPH to nearly 160 MPH on 5th gear but the fun factor isn't the same than on my old H2, my Ducati 996 push to 165 MPH 6th gear and has a fun factor too but very different from my H2, would say I prefer my H2

with the modern ecu and modern bikes being adjustable via the mapping etc.
if you had a mind to ,you make it run like crap until it reached say 8k rpm then as it should to red line and you would get a similar "hit" to the old H2.
if you wanted to mimik the old style motors
my 0.02 cents
mark
