Steve, I normally don't get involved with the finish of the CDI housings, or mounting them, but this was a little unusual. Tim lost a non-Kaw ignition system at the gap, and John and Barry helped him out with some parts to get his bike rideable that week. Mark H. had the boxes that needed rebuilding, so Tim could return the ones that were loaned to him. Mark sent those to me, along with the mounting plate. After I rebuilt them, I talked to Tim about the logistics, and Tim expressed a little concern about getting everything wired correctly if I sent him the parts separately. So I put a coat of gold spray can paint on them so they wouldn't rust, mounted them back on the plate, and plugged them together. Now Tim can keep the bike going, and if he wants a different finish, at least he can do it at his leisure.
I see I need to update my instructions, since I broke down and had a (large) batch of black-with-white-stripes wire made.
And Tim, you're absolutely welcome... and thanks back to you.
