REAR BRAKE is a very good assumption. alsmost binned it in may on daves 90 doing the same thing. dotn the 550's have a rear cable brake? make sure the shoe hasnt come apart in the hub either.

I did a monoshock conversion and now have a disk in back. It wasn't dragging bad but I took it apart and cleaned it anyways.

I found I have one early carb and the rest late carbs. So I ordered all 3 carbs of ebay for $70. They look pretty rough, but I only need one and will have some extra parts.

If you have read my other posts I am quick to make assumptions. That usually turn out wrong. I thank everyone for bearing with me and giving guidance.

I finally figured this problem out.

I feel like a dumb ass, but..

The middle cylinder was getting NO 2 stroke oil..... for I don't know how many miles....About 4 tanks of gas. :banghead

I blew it out with an air hose and it is all good now.. Really glad i didn't smoke it.. But that was what it was :banghead

I ended up with a head gasket leak on that cylinder and kept looking and looking, and noticed it didn't smoke like the others unless i really twisted the throttle, then a little smoke would come out. Still has the same 100psi like the other cylinders......Runs great now with no dead spot....Rippin it up on the bike held together by boot laces, tryin to find a Harley to race..

Maybe a compression tester that has the valve somewhere other than right at the tip?

I have rebuilt many many dirt bikes and atvs. They always stop running at around 80psi. This bike runs fine with 100psi.

I can't believe it went that long with a clogged oil line without burning up. It must have got a little oil at higher throttle.
But once i fixed that the surge/drag went away. All the other problems I ran into never did get rid of this problem.
