Amazing stuff, Barry, you are so lucky! I feel for all those other people, there can't be many things worse than losing your Home, and your past history and memories! :(

Good grief !

So what happens to your neighbors who've lost their house. Do people in the neighborhood take them in ? Are there churches organizing pulling people together ? Are the hotels in the area full ?

I've heard there's a lotting problem ? Is your house going to be cleaned out when you get there ?

Thanks everyone for the support.

R - I cannot tell you how much this community has come together, churches, utilities, car&share, red cross, Colorado Springs emergency services = the government - all civil entities have been awesome. An example, one of the shelters was set for 3000 cots but only 400 were used (considering 35,000 were evacuated at one point), so many people have taken in others.

They let us back in the house yesterday to look around and we're just about to head back now but still on standby evac status. No looting at our house but there has been 22 houses looted or vandalized - the national guard is here now. Just heard on the news they caught some of them and the police said they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent but I don't think there will be any more issues.

All things - this has been traumatic and educational for us. We're of course saddened for those that lost their houses, but the three friends I know that did - they are all very positive about rebuilding. Seeing how this has gone the rebuild will restart very soon (this is NOT california full of BS Red Tape).....

Thanks John, good pictures. This just came out - it's a firemans view/video - really shows how bad it was - They mention/show Flying-W many times. this is the street behind me - where my fence was burned, they stopped it that close to my house!
