A cr500 is one of my future buys. The cr500 and yz490 were "the" badguy bikes for us hillbillies growing up in northern Maine. I enjoyed this article on who's truly king of the hill, modern four strokes or two strokes? The playing field is leveled with a modern chassis for the 2t. Enjoy.

take a look at running costs over two yrs, and then look at weight eg= KTM 300 2/stroke =102kg equal 4/stroke 450/530 =120kg , 300 steers so good  , 530 pushes front end , and add it all up , a couple of yrs ago you wouldnt see many 2stroke enduro bikes here , as the 4/strokes were pritty good , but then when the rebuilds started  ,. get the CR there rarer than the 490s , over here anyway, Al in Aus

I rode a 501 Maico once, so I am hopelessly biased - and that is on top of the triples!

I love the two strokes and as said the rebuild is a fraction of the effort and cost.
I also think that the 2t's are less likely to annoy other people as i don't think the noise travels as far as a 4t.Obviously in some countries this is not a problem, but here in the uk this is a real issue.
