Jackman, when you head out to NY. for the first run please make a post here as I am not too far from there and would like to see some bikes run.Do they have certain weekends where only bikes run?

Sure I'll be posting here hoping for May or June but if that don't work family and I go to the Fall Mopar weekend. My S3 is nothing fancy just a stock street bike but time slip at the Valley is a must have.....

I never raced at Dover. I raced most weekends in 72 & 73 at Lebanon Valley and once at New England dragway in Epping NH.

In 73, I also raced at the Sanair Grand Nationals in Montreal. My bike is currently in San Diego not far from where "Boots" Langley

lives. My brother got some parts from him 15 yrs ago in the first attempt at part accumulation.

Ok, one more period shot from 1973....

Great story on the bike.
Lebanon Valley is right near the NY MASS border. Near where the NYS Thruway runs into the Mass Pike.
So where are you located Andrew?
Please add that to your profile.
It really helps others should you do any buying or trading parts.
Welcome to the board and good luck with your restoration.
REMEMBER we love pictures here.

I'm subscribed. Would like to see more. In the same boat here with a '71 project. Owned my bike for over 20 years, but I have never had the opportunity to ride it. Bought it not running for $125 but finally got the desire to tear it down. Happened suddenly & wish I had some before pics, but before I realized what happened... it was ALL apart on the floor of the garage.

Great to hear someone is working on the same project. If there are any parts you can't seem to find
give me a shout. I probably won't have the part but with all of the research I've been doing, I might
have an idea or someone on this forum will. I'm still part shopping and researching.

No laughing....This bike has looked exactly like this since 1978.....

Thanks.

I started a thread on another forum, but turns out I like it here better. More activity.

Keeping progress pics in this album.

Been slow the past couple weeks. My last post has a link to a pile of H1F's I bought & that took some attention off the project. That pile also ate up some of the 71's funds. Latest on the 71 is a pair of nice chromed lower fork tubes so I don't have to use the painted ones. Ordered the upper tubes, seals, rear bushings & shocks. Need to get paint on the frame & swing arm & I'll be close to your last pic. Only thing I am having trouble finding is an early perch for the clutch lever. There will be a few things left alone for the time being, body paint. I am up in arms here... Paint is original but not in great condition. There is this part of me that comes from the old VW scene where original paint is highly desireable. Besides that can easily be done down the road.

Your bike looks really clean. If you have all the parts for it, that will be an excellent bike. 20 years ago mine was not that pretty.

All the forums have a different "flavor", which is good, as there are places people feel more comfortable with. This site is more of a triple resource, lots of info, with a little bit of fun.
