A conductive and corrosion preventing grease like Penetrox would be a much better idea than a grease made to insulate, like dielectric grease is.

Guys,
I'm assembling my H2A project bike. The frame has been painted. My main wiring harness has 3 ground wires with loop connectors that run to each coil mount location on the frame. Does this wire ground the coils or do I still need to remove the paint from the frame in the mount locations?

Thanks!

Yes, remove paint from frame for grounds!

Thank you sir!

Note to self:
Polish and mask all coil mount locations before paint!

I run one homemade interconnected ground wire from the three coils on newly painted frames back to the ignition boxes. I do not disturb the frame powder coating as there is no need, doing so allows for corrosion. I mount grounding wire lugs between the frame and coil or under the nut. All you need is a path back to the modules and the three into one ground wire satisfies that requirement. The modules are grounded to the frame.

I currently have a three into one ground wire that attaches to the coils and feeds back in to the main harness. It appears to be original to the bike. This is a 1973 H2A. Regardless, I went ahead and cleaned the paint off the frame in the coil mount areas, just for the sake of assuring the best ground possible.
