I think we have sorted things (regarding the electrics) out now.

The fuse blew because of broken insulation on the cables in the rear wiring loom going to the tail light.

The charging didn't work due to a broken wire going from the rectifier.

Rode the bike today. When the engine is warmed up, it doesn't idle anymore. What could be the cause for this?

One possibility is carb idle adjustments (air screws) set too rich. Another is wrong float level or leaking float valves.

The petcock needs to be rebuilt because it leaks pretty badly. But gas drips on the floor so it seems the float valves are not sealing properly?

Read the carb tuning manual and wonder if there is a reason for setting the idle to >2000 rpm before adjusting the air screws?

You raise the idle speed for the cylinder you're adjusting so that cylinder is doing more that its share, to make its air screw have a larger effect on RPM.

Ok, I understand.

I tried to turn the air screw up to a half turn in both directions on my H1B but it made no difference that I could notice. This was at normal idle rpm though. I could even turn the screw in completely but it didn't kill the cylinder, a bit strange.

Not that strange, since the pilot circuit was richer, but air still entered the engine through the usual route, under the throttle slide.
