So I rebuilt an oil pump, (H2), and a Pet %^& cock (fuel tap) and they both leaked, and I was pretty careful, but I left them sitting in 2-stroke mix, about, dunno, 30/1, for a week or so, and when I cleaned them up , they both don't leak anymore. Mind you, they are both 40 years old in storage or something. Thoughts, comments....!? You can't be too careful!

Do you mean you rebuilt them and then stored them for 40 years and they leaked, or you stored them, then rebuilt them, and then they leaked?

Where did the oil pump leak? Through the fittings or past a gasket?

For things like float bowls and petcocks, I've been putting just enough EZ Turn on the gaskets and seals to make them look not dry before assembly. Just don't use so much that a glob could get into a carburetor, because this grease really won't dissolve in fuel.

Thanks Jim, they are a recent rebuild of old components, I just noticed they seem to adapt to a new fuel/oil environment, given a few days or so. The oil pump is fine, I just might take up your tip on the EZ-turn for the petcock.

Never heard of EZ Turn, thanks.

It's good stuff to have around, Barry. Admittedly it's been a while since I posted about it:

Thanks Jim. I'm going to have to try that.
Be warned if you search Amazon for "EZ Turn lubricant" your results will be for an entirely different type of lube ;)

I think the stuff is sold for lubricating fuel valves on airplanes, among other things. It used to be called Fuel Lube.

Fuel will dissolve anti-seize.

Aircraft Spruce carries the fuel resist grease. You just have to be careful not to glop, or it will stop flow. And you get enough to do all the triples in the world, twice or ten times over!
