Location: Italy,
a greeting to all, a question that arose yesterday in a discussion with friends, is it possible to know up to what number of engine, or chassis, the H1 was kept low on the oil pump? certainly on all 1969 white H1, but how many anthracite had the low casing, then mounted on all the red ones?
Thanks in advance to everyone who can help me
Paola

Changeover was at engine number 8801. Low cover, plug wires under carb, 8800, over the carb high cover, 8801 later.

The changeover bulletin should be on the resources site.

Unless it's a eruopean points model
In which case the low oil pump cover was kept through the production run until the H1B

I think that Kawasaki has made some confusion in the distribution of the models here. I have red H1, registered in Italy in 1970, electronic access, high crankcase, and H1A registered in Italy in 1972, electronic ignition, high crankcase. A couple of our friends have red H1 1970 and H1A 1971 first registration for both in France, both points ignition, both high casings.

Maybe oil pump cover replaced in points model with high ones?
Both my H1A points model have low covers and no grommet for coil wire

Very erratic times as far as distribution of models in Europe was concerned until 1972

So, just for discussion, in 1970 in Australia, you could get a red H1 with CDI for $60 more than the same bikes with points. Equal availability, I got a CDI model. (BTW, peacock grey versions were rare, perhaps 1 in 30, something like that.) Pretty sure it was high covers on the CDI's, (it was), and low covers on the points models.

I am increasingly confused! I have never seen a red H1, neither live, nor in photography, or brochures, with low casing, and today I come to find that there are even H1A with low casing. Incredible!

As I said, the red H1's came with points ignition, (low cover) and CDI ignition, (high cover) in many markets. I am in Australia. (The real experts will tell you there were a couple of types of low cover, I believe!)
