It was a part of it, and adding things like "the hinge in the middle of the frame" wobble didn't help, nor the way the H engines came on the power band, usually straight up and down in low gear.

Of course, compared to a disk, a drum brake will never be acceptable.

Slowly getting there. Was a bit of a mission getting everything to fit. Built the wheel from scratch, had to drill my own rims.
Getting clearance between calipers and spokes just. Had to put 6mm spacer behind discs. Will end up with a triple tree 5mm wider.
Should be back on the track in a few months.

Wow, impressive work, I’d love to hear more about how you went about drilling those rims!

Very carefully.
Its the third rim i have drilled now.
I just used my 3D imagination. Center popped them on the outside and drilled them with a battery drill, with the rim on the floor between my legs. I used a dial gauge mag base with a pen in it on a flat surface too mark two even lines around in the dimples.
But had to guess where on that line in the dimple to drill.
But center popping them in the right place is important and even more important is the angle they get drilled at, because the Ali is about 4-5mm thick and if you drill the wrong angle it stresses/bends the spoke when you tighten them.
Same for the position of the hole in the dimple. if you drill in the wrong place the nipple head will sit on one side of the head and bend the spoke. But you can correct both problems by obviously opening up the hole slightly with the drill. Or if the hole is in slightly the wrong place, you can use i rotary burr and burr the dimple a bit so the nipple head contacts the ali evenly. With the ali being so thick, it doesnt matter if you remove 1/2 a mm.
The kawasaki hubs were quite easy compared to the conical hub because kawasaki hub has only two angles whereas the conical has four angles.
This wheel went quite well and only took me about two days (10 beers) to drill, spoke and true.

Speaking of angles: that tire looks like it has two - up and down and cranked over!

Woops. Broken bike. Another broken collar bone
Testing the new front end on the road, cops spotted me, did a runner.
T- boned a van. Cops got me. Hehe.

Thanks John. Not sure we play it any different here than there. I’m a 51 year old that acted like a 18
year old for about 3 minutes and regret all 3 of them. It’s going to cost me my license and about 10k
no insurance. The van came out worse than the bike by look of the photos in the court hearing.
Looks like I rolled all the way down the side of it before i dropped on the ground
I think the door handle is still stuck in my rib cage.
If anyone says emgo fork stansions are made of butter I have proof they are not. I T-boned the van
Square on and the stansions are still dead straight! Bent the wheel and bent the bottom yoke.
Not sure my clutch cover can survive. The crack underneath goes pretty close to the sealing surface.
So if someone can help me out with another one, good or bad, that would be appreciated. I think I might need spares. If you can’t do it for this big idiot, do it to keep the legendary widow maker on the race track where people can see it. PM me
Steve
