I love going to auctions, especially ones with motorcycles. The nice thing is that I saw what people are paying for bikes I have in my collection and I realize that I have gotten some great deals! That, or my bikes have just gone up in value.

Regardless, there was about 250 bikes up for auction. There were some deals to be had, and some where I must have missed the gold parts hidden in them! The kawi triples, early (1970) CB750’s, and big iron mid seventies kawi’s were the big sellers.

Here are the triples, and a few other notable mentions. (This will be in several parts, so bear with me.)

Lot 30 - 1973 S1, turns, stock (original) condition w/title. My thoughts: nice project bike for someone. Definitely a bike that has been sitting and needs work, but a good starting platform. Missing a few various parts, but clean tank inside and out. Miles: 10,551 Hammer price: $2200

Lot 70 - 1972 H1, turns, Orange, WOW w/ BOS (bill of sale only). My thoughts: this bike was Mia advertised. It was stuck. I couldn’t get it to turn over with either the kick starter or the rear wheel. Rough bike...but I’ve seen worse restored. Tank was rusted inside and some outside. Low miles - 5457 - but a big project, if not parts bike. Hammer price:$3600

Correction- lot 70 H1 was not stuck...that was this bike.

Lot 74 - Kawi A1 (year unknown) turns, original condition, w/ BOS. My thoughts: I liked this bike a lot! I did not buy it though. I don’t know what the parts availablity is like for these so the issues it has were scary to me. It was stuck which was a bummer. It was missing a few small pieces, but a really clean original bike. Tank was like brand new inside. Don’t remember the miles, but they were fairly low if memory serves me correct. Hammer price: $2000

Lot 60 - 1981 Kawasaki CSR 305, show room, runner w/ title. My thoughts: Well...it was the only bike that came home with me! It’s not show room, nor does it run, but it is very clean, only 6k miles, new tires and good battery. And it will be my girlfriends first motorcycle. I like it, and more importantly, she likes it. Hammer price: $400

Lot 115 - 1973 Suzuki GT 550, first year, amazing w/title. My thoughts: this is one of those notable mention bikes here. This was a nice, clean original Suzuki. It appears that it had been ran recently and with a title, this was one of the better bikes there. And that front drum brake, really cool bike! Hammer price:$3700

Lot 145 - 1975 Suzuki RE5, turns, amazing condition, w/ title. My thoughts: this is a bucket list ‘want’ bike for me due to its technological significance and rotary goodness! But a re5 guy once told me to spend your money on one that you know runs good, because if it doesn’t, good luck getting parts. With that in mind, I held back and did not bid. I think this bike is a ‘76, not a ‘75. It did turn over but felt like it had zero compression. (Maybe that’s normal???) It has been sitting for a while and looks like someone may have started tinkering with the carb, which could turn into a nightmare. Tank had some light rust inside, but could definitely be salvaged with some work. 7,890 miles. I wanted it, but I’ll hold out for one I can hear run, even if it costs more. Hammer price: $2900

Lot 165 - 1973 S2, turns, amazing w/BOS. My thoughts: What a beautiful original little triple! If the no title thing isn’t a big deal to you, this was probably the nicest looking triple there. No dents, original paint was beautiful, and the pipes were mint. Only 3411 Miles too. There was issues though. No keys. The cases had been split at some point and they used a lot of sealer that dripped down the sides of the case. The fork legs had some gouges in them that were deep enough to cause concern. And the tank had been sealed inside, which was starting to peel off. Otherwise this was such a beautiful little triple. Hammer price: $3650

Lot 188 - 1973 S2, nice triple, rare 350, w/ BOS. My thoughts: this was at best, a parts bike. While mostly complete, it was VERY stuck. It appears to have sat outside for many years with no plugs in it. The top right exhaust pipe had literally rusted away. The tank had some big dents which could probably be fixed, and was okay inside. 21,503 miles, no title. Hammer price: $1550

Lot 190 - 1977 KH400, turns, clean chrome, w/ BOS. My thoughts: this was a bike they were accurate about the description and I thought was a good buy. The exhaust was very nice. The engine kicked over smoothly with great compression. All the stuff that’s supposed to move moved well. The carbs were off, but were there and complete. It was missing the air box and intake boot, and rear turn signals. The headlight was there, but apart for some reason. Cosmetically a bit rough, but I think if this were my bike, I would have found the missing parts, and get it running and ride it just how it is. The patina was good! Inside of the gas tank was clean. 14,224 miles. Hammer price: $2600

Thanks for posting - for the most part, the prices seem higher than I would have expected. The S2 is the only one that seems like good value (to me LOL).
