Yep.....seems I saw that thing in a parts box and remembered it had a 3 pin plug. I'll be digging it out this weekend and sorting the wiring.

Here's a pic of the coated chambers. They look great. Interesting enough, I didn't notice the cylinder flange wasn't removable until today.

So if the flange holds the pipe......what does the spring do.......??!!

The collars that bolt to the cylinders are loose. The top flange is solid. Once the pipe is bolted on, I don't see a need for the spring.....unless I'm missing something. I tried sliding the flange itself off but it wouldn't come off. Only the collar rotated. I'll look at it a little closer in a few minutes and get some pics of the assembly.

I looked at the top and it looks welded solid except for the collar. I twisted on that flange good and it doesn't turn. Some close ups.

Time to buff the green, figure out whether to do the tank logo, spray that, and we're going to put this on, instead of the mix like I did on the S3.

You'll love the 2K if you follow the directions about threading, etc.. Just remember that the little container of hardener inside adds some weight, so the can is empty when it still feels like there is some left. That almost made me mess up the tank I sprayed with it.

I used the enamel clear from the parts store once and regretted it. it got old quick having to be careful not to get gas on the tank when fueling. I spent a couple afternoons buffing runs out that ate the clear and it ate on it very quickly. when I painted the s3 with the marble paint, I did the 2k mix in an air gun and it was night and day difference.

The instructions seem relatively simple. hopefully it goes on just as easy as the mix did.

My two theories:

1. to just look cool
2. most likely they decided to just weld the pipes up solid and not hear about oil leakage. And retrofitted the pipe already built.

I would definitely rubber mount these guys, they won't last long with a hard front mount.

The old J&R's were flange mounted like that, (not to mention Kawasaki's pipes.....) I ran a set for years before they started to crack - by which time the whole bike was starting to crack! Any Advocates for hard mounting (early H2) pipes here??
