To the OP, if you thought the vfr250 was fun you should get yourself on a plated dirtbike or supermoto even if it is a 250 four stroke. Up the cc's and the fun factor goes up accordingly.

Bikes like the Bandit 1200 are great, but they are big, and they are HEAVY!!

About 15-20 lbs. more than a H2C. ;)

Well, the H2-C is a big Lardy old thing, I guess........ Had one for a while in the 80's and, for me, it was a big disappointment, too long, too heavy. Went back to the early, which was significantly lighter. 500lbs is too heavy for a bike I.M.H.O. My ZX10r weighs about 385 "dry" which translates to a bit lighter than an early H2.

I hear you Rod, just making a suggestion for a fun bike for under 2k. They are the ugliest offering for the group of comparable bikes so they come cheap... ;)

Yep, in agreement, Walms,..... I once sat on a (don't know) mid '90's YZF750 sports bike, and thought , this thing fits perfectly... Hope the O.P. is taking notes, there are a lot of good cheap bikes out there!

It had crossed my mind. There are a few old enduros I am watching! That would be pretty fun, just what I am most used to riding...(vintage motocross)........and whos to say I couldnt venture off the road now and then and hit a power line trail....I actually have a couple of old bikes that theoretically I could put a Vermont tag on as people do but thay would take alot of work.

Thanks to all for the input!
It may be a week or two before I pull the trigger, and I have spent HOURS on craigslist. Have my eye on a group of them.......also been reading reviews, etc.

There was an FZ400 for cheap, but then I read the ad...."Only thing wrong with it is it needs a motor".... the rest of it was ratty as well.

I had a house fire a couple months ago and Im in a townhouse for now, so I cant store or work on any projects over here. The old S2 is still tagged, but it needs alot of work and Im not gonna put it out on the street here. Used to keep it on the porch at the old place.

My S2's last official act was to let my son practice on it for his DMV riding test...now since he has the VTR250, I have visions of father son trips through the mountains and all that but who knows. Right now, he only rides the interceptor to college which is close by....if he takes his car to campus, he has to walk 20 minutes to get to class, but they have ample motorcycle parking real close to the buildings that no one ever uses so that works out well.

I did ride a buddy's GPZ750 years ago, like up and down the street once, that felt pretty gutsy.

The old gzp's have a more sit up riding position compared to a more modern sport bike. I had an 1989 badged as a 600r Ninja, the ZX6r I bought new in 2003 was a big difference. An older enduro would be a hoot to ride on side roads with. I don't know how much highway riding I would want to do on one though.

We have fairly cheap FZR 1000's but the 750 is rare and the LC rd is just as rare or worse.
