Just messin' Russ, I saw the mention of good compression
Is the plug for that cylinder wet when you check it?

I'll be interested in what you find with the brake problem, as both my bikes have sat for a while and now have sticking or stuck...front brakes.

"sticking" front brakes (disc) are caused by the caliper piston being frozen in the bore and usually the caliper will also be stuck on the caliper shafts. Can usually be repaired by disassembling the caliper, greasing the shafts & removing the piston & cleaning it and the bore. Would be a good idea to replace the piston ring while you are there & the piston if it is pitted.

A cylinder with a piston missing the intake skirt can still have compression but will not run even with good spark.

where does the intake skirt end up ? wouldn't i hear some not so good noise coming from the motor if a piece of piston broke off ?

my caliper problem was from leaking seals, the corrosion & gook gummed up the piston & pad from moving

put your hand over the carburetor and feel for suction.

Worst case, ground up and jammed into the bottom end (locking the crank) & beat into the bottom of the head. Best case, out the exhaust port. It may not make a "not so good noise" when it breaks if it just spits it out the exhaust..
