This is true. Where I grew up the hills were so steep and long, when your ball rolled down the hill you just said "screw it"...

I always thought the same thing watching the farmers around here with tractors in the field.

A farmer recently told me that when a motorcycle drives by while he's on a tractor in the field, he is very jealous. Apparently it's more tedious and boring than relaxing.

The biker might be thinking the same thing I watch the crop farmers in my area work their fields I'd trade places with anyone of them

No it is one of the best tractors we have. 30 years old and it just keeps on going...Never overheats. Yeah we have the same troubles on the watercooled John Deeres and the Kubota if you neglect the maintenance. It is pretty peaceful in the cab of the tractor. A man has time to think and nobody badgering or yapping at him . AC works good, some Pink Floyd on the radio and if its the weekend a can or two of a nice cold frothy adult beverage goes down real good. Mostly you have to pay attention to the implement be it the haybine, rake, or baler and avoid any obstacles like a groundhog hole that can tear up a $40000.00 baler..
But that being said I too find myself envious of the bikers and vacationers transiting the roads near the hayfields. The work is mostly automated now. Nothing like when I grew up and spent my summers on a hay wagon behind Daddy and the baler in the 100 degree heat and humidity from daylight till dark loading, stacking, and unloading 100 pound square bales...for $5 a day.
I was strong as a bull then and in shape. But it sucked ass LOL...

I have a ton of old time farming in Charlottesville Va. 50- 60 years ago Grand Pa hayed his fields on a JD70 , 2 cylinder diesel no cab and no safetees for a starter motor it had a small gas pony engine Grand pa should have kept his farm I'd hay them fields and envy no one

If they went to the trouble of not having an ignition system, ya think they would have done away with valves, too, so J.P. is "technically" correct!!
