Looking great but, I vote for painting the side covers orange, before applying the decals and shooting the clear over them. Nice bike, did you install tapered rollers in the steering head and bronze bushings in the swingarm. Also slightly longer rear shocks help, but yes you'll get addicted to the H2 powerband and you'll find they handle much better than the Myth!!!!

Ive thought about orange side covers for a while, Im still up in the air on it and I don't know how hard it would be to replace the orange powder coat that was done. It would need investigation.

The front end is not stock and has tapered bearings and the same for the rear end not stock and it has roller bearings
So far handling is ok but the tires are OLD and HARD so Im taking it easy until I can afford new ones.

And Its WAY rich from what I can tell at this point, I will be driving it this afternoon fiddled with the needles again there at there lowest now and turned the air screw to 2 just for fun.
Next week I will be prepping it for the decals and applying them! I hope.

When my uncle gave me this project after the death of my cousin I promised I would finish it as it was started, and I finally got to show the bike to him and Jerrys son Jamie and his (ex) wife Joy yesterday.
It was a good time to be able to remember Jerry from before the accident and subsequent brain damage.
It is nice for Jamie to know who his Dad was before all the bad stuff (he was only 9 when the accident happened) and this project was started before he was born!
Jamie does like to hear the good stories of his father, his memory of him is mostly as brain damaged which sucks.

Here are a couple of pics of Joy and Jamie and my Uncle Jerry Sr. and one crappy photo of a photo of Jerry when he was about 19 or 20 guessing from the yamaha 650 and when he had that.
Sorry for the sappy reminiscing but its part of this bikes story and why I now have it.

Great Story, and good to share. You can all be proud of yourselves! For a bike with mod. suspension, etc. that thing sits so "right", and it looks so good without decals - I know you have to put them on!! Spend a bit of time getting the jetting, etc, sorted, and you will have a great bike to go along with your memories!

List of things that need doing;
1. Timing, check again and be sure its spot on.
2. Jetting, very rich, ordering parts today.
3. Oil pump cable, need to modify so it doesn't put to much side pressure on the pump.
4. Prep tank, tail, and side panels for decals and apply decals.
5. Check all bolts nuts ect.
6. The worst one! The chain clearance which I knew was close is cutting into the reservoir on the rear shock :banghead

I knew the clearances where close but static it didn't hit when I ran it thru the full motion of the suspension , but it must "whip" a bit while driving.
I know I can purchase a new shock custom made but there $600.00 or so, and that isn't in the budget right now.
Im hoping I can find a way to use a nylon or similar something to place on the spot as a guard for now.

What chain you using??

Had same problems regarding chain cutting into homemade hugger on my H2 cafe. I changed to O RING FREE 520 chain. Problem solved.

That might be the ticket, I will have to do some measuring, right now its a 530 o-ring chain.
