I was talking to a customer today, we're building a stroker LS motor for his really cool Vette.
After much conversation, He told me that he owned a Kawasaki dealership from 1970 'til 1992, here in Birmingham.
He owned the Kawi dealership that I frequented during the '70s!
Then, we talked about the dealer that I bought my first new bike, '72 G5 100, Smith Brothers Kawasaki/Suzuki.
My 6th grade math teacher was Wayne Smith (one of smith bros.)
He worked for Wayne and eventually bought "Smith Brothers".
The '73 Z1 that I bought (and restored) was originally purchased from Smith Brothers Kawi dealership.
He told me that Mother Kawi only gave him 2 Z1's in '73.
He also spoke about the very first Kawi jet ski's, which even wilder , that I bought my first PWC from Wayne Smith.
He told me that when he sold his dealership, that he gave some of his leftover stuff to George Barber ( of Barber's Museum)
He told me that his dealership was given 2 posters for display, of the '73 Kawi lineup.
He thinks that he still has one and said if he finds it, he'll give it to me.
He also talked about 2 H2's that were still in crates for several years that he sold, that he wished he hadn't.
there is alot more, but I'll save it for later.

Can't wait to hear more Brother Shane at the Gap on this and life's other answers.

Looking forward to hearing your tales of lore around the campfire this year. I love hearing stories about old dealers Kawasaki or otherwise.

I'm looking forward to seeing you too, Shane, partly just because you recovered enough to make the meet. Should I carve you a nice NC walking stick?
