Trevor, is that an early or late CBX, (colour?), and what have you got for an exhaust system? Spent a bit of time on a silver 1st model, when they first came out!!

1978 silver twin-shock. Marving (Italian) 6-2 mild steel exhaust system. The Marving works very well but it's too bloody quiet! One day I'll put a Pipemasters 6-6 stainless on...

I rebuild carbs all the time, but I think I would rather have a severe beating then take on a CBX. I am told that the engine needs to be leaned forward from the rear mount just to remove them.

You also have to do that to replace a throttle cable...

I finished the CBX valve adjustment. I must say that I'm impressed with the precision of shims over screw-and-locknut. As long as you're very precise with your measuring you can achieve a very precise valve clearance. However, I thought I would pass along something I learned along the way.

Shims are not the same size as the number printed on them! I needed four 275's (2.75mm). Silly me ordered 4 x 275's. I got four shims with 275 printed on them, but in reality I got 1 x 272, 2 x 273 & 1 x 274. So it turns out that shim numbers are printed to the nearest multiple of 5. A 275 will probably never measure 2.75mm. Luckily, the place I order shims from also stocks 1/2 size shims. I ordered 3 x 278's. I got three shims with 278 printed on them, but in reality I got 2 x 275 & 1 x 276, which worked out perfectly.

Rotating the engine is really pretty easy and works great.
