Had a charging issue on the FLHR. It stranded me on the Interstate 9 weeks ago. I couldn't duplicate it until I talked to the Haase. One Wally World blow dryer and a few minutes on high blowing on the regulator rectifier and it quit charging(diode) Bought a new regulator rectififer $59 bucks after verifying AC voltage out of the stator at 32-33 right in the middle of the spec.
I decided I want to know before it's too late that the bike is or isn't charging. Battery was loaded tested and verified good as well. $17 at Autozone for the gauge and $3.00 at Wally World for a switch and now I know. I am gonna replace the gauge and bezel with a waterproof box type Chinese LED voltmeter when it arrives from Xiang via Ebay $8.00 free shipping.
My local Battery Mart sold me a Battery Tender and recommended I use it during periods of inactivity. The FLHR is rarely ridden. I took 2 old tractor batteries in there and they gave me a tender and handed me $25 in cash to boot plus load tested my five year old battery bought from them and told me it was good for free. Good people!!!
