don't know the actual rules for driving in USA but since 3 or 4 years you can drive in France with car driving licence a Piaggio scooter 3 wheelers such those here:
http://www.piaggio-mp3.fr/

The 400 goes around 90 MPH and the 500 100 MPH with good acceleration.
Plenty of guys who haven't motorcycle driving licence bought them and rode weird as they haven't experience of bikes.
Yesterday evening, fire up my S2A for the first time since march (when my office partner who rode it the last winter gave me back) and a funny guy on a Piaggio 3 wheelers 400cc wanted to play on the traffic lights  :D
My old 350 still outperformed it twice and then he stayed behind me :e11 he seem really surprise when he realized I have faster acceleration with this old small bike :e12

Yes, they were. Their trippiness may have contributed to the one guy crashing his.

JP, I believe that in North Carolina, driving one of those things would require a motorcycle license. It is probably not the same all over the U.S., because in general motor vehicle laws are handled by states.

I think PA you would need a MC license as well unless it was under 50cc which it would fall into a scooter category then a regular license would suffice.
