Thanks for the pic link.
I still need some basic data like:
- For how many years has the meeting been going on?
I believe this year was the 14th year. It started out as a triples meet, and then turned into a 2 stroke meet, as many guys had different brands, and more people migrated to different brand boards.- Typical number of participants?
It varies, I think around 80 people is the high number of guys that have shown up.- Who organizes the meeting?
There are really no "actual" organizers. Ric took over the reservation with the resort a few years ago, to make it easier for the resort. As the meet is unofficially 8 days long, things happen, so guy come in and fall out, which is a nightmare for the resort. So Ric keeps this all in line. Jeff G. does the T-shirts and Banner, And Chris does the medical information part. No one has an official post, or is it really an official meet. It's all volunteer.- Is there any any organized activities
No, that's the fun of it. There are so many roads and things to see, we usually just ask around were guys are going and go with them if interested. There is the Dragon, which is the big draw to the area, 318 curves in 11 miles. But that gets very crowded on weekends (one of the reasons we lengthened the meet to a week, so we had weekdays to play on it) Then there is about a 20 mile ride, to the nearest town of Robbinsville which as a great sweeping road that follows a river. then there are dams to go see and a big loop through the Cherohala skyway (about 100 miles) of sweeping mountain roads up to 5000ft of altitude. And a huge old bike museum Wheels through time about 60 miles away. Basically just a great place that you can go in any direction to find a great road, or something to see.
We do "rarely" get a group together to go someplace, but it's like herding cats, not usually successful. We don't have a "show" or any judging, as that brings in a competitive spirit which is more of a nevative than a positive with us guys. - And so on
