A spider came up on craigslist for $2,448 so i sent a email saying i would like to come take a look.
This is the reply i received back.

Hello,

My name is Sharon, happy to see you are interested in my 2009 Can-Am Spyder Roadster. Let me give you a few details about it. The trike is in great condition, no engine problems, damages or hidden defects. It was always garaged. I`m a single mother with 2 children and I have to work very hard to maintain my family. I`m selling it so cheap because I have money problems. The price is $2,448.00. I want to tell you that I do not sell my trike in payments and I do not trade. Since I don't have anyone to help me with the sale I decided to make this transaction through eBay. I believe this protects both buyer and seller and it's the right way to do this. Giving the nature of this transaction please note that my sale terms are final and nonnegotiable. In order to move forward, email me back with your full name, shipping address and phone number so i can register the deal at eBay Financial Department. After that, eBay will send you the payment instructions. If you are still interested email me for more pictures and details.

Details about my trike:

Mileage: 3,351

Engine: 990 cc

Color: Yellow

Type: Sport Touring

Title: Clear

My best wishes and I'm waiting your response so we can move forward with this deal.

Thank you.

Sounds like bull to me but she is not asking for any critical info, I dont see where an inquiry would hurt.

Since eBay doesn't register deals through a financial department, or contact buyers with payment instructions, or deal with Craigslist sales, I'm guessing you'll get a bogus call from someone pretending to be from eBay, telling you to do something stupid like send a check, or wire the money by Western Union, etc.. Then you never hear from the seller again.

Scam for sure. She could just call the dealer and I am sure they would be happy to come pick it up $2500. Real people don't talk/respond the way that they did. Anyone that is hard up for money and really is selling a spider for $2500 is a drug addict and they don't word stuff like that either.

Yup, anything that sounds too good to be true, usually is!!!

A few years back I almost got scammed when selling a car... They wanted to pay by certified cheque but wanted to hire a transportation company to drop the cheque off and pickup the car at the same time. Just because everything seemed to be going too smooth, I asked what bank the cheque was from...
An American bank, I then called my bank to find out an American certified cheque is worth no more than a personal cheque because the US/ Canadian banks don't have electronic verification... Essentially it would take 3 weeks to clear.
As soon as I mentioned car car would be available after the cheque cleared, I never heard from them again.

Sounds a little like a guy who had me build him a set of chambers, Andrew. He wanted to stop by and pick them up on the way to NY from FL, and bring a company check. When I wouldn't agree to that, it was the end of the deal, and I sold the pipes to the next guy on the list.

Yea I would be stering clear. It's well known scammers on craigs list item worth way more than the sale price just to sucker you in. I'm sure if you push for a sale, the next thing they'll want to do is take your payment then schedule a trucking company they know and use to go get it and coordinate the whole thing.

It was converted from a nice round number of West African CFA francs.
