Actually they did have H1 drum brakes on the first prototype 707. First test flight in 1961 With a landing speed of 180 knots, it has now slowed down to 160 knots, and should stop sometime around 2112.............

Daily I can work on either 777, 727, 757, A300, A310, MD10 or MD11 That's a lot to remember lol

I'll never forget the day I was running a 727 with all 3 engines at take off power. #2 engine cross wind stalled and I had my feet on the brake pedals The plane shook so hard I released the parking brake and started to roll along very very quickly ! I vowed never to keep feet on brakes but now have to running a Airbus lol

Just be sure to NEVER pull the breakers on both LGIUs while running the 310! (or any Airbus product) Doing so inhibits the brakes/releases the parking brake,inhibits the thrust reversers AND bumps the power to flight idle!!. You now have a runaway situe!

For those wondering what I refer, the LGIUs are "computers" that sense when the aircraft is on the ground. Pulling their breakers will put the aircraft into "air mode" which inhibits the use of the above.

I know of someone who did this and the aircraft jumped its chocks and impaled itself INTO a building, like a scene from "Airplane" It happened in Vancouver Canada...

Doing the run up on a light single is pretty neet, and doing a max take off full power w brakes I can only imagine what a big jet run up would be like.
