Ric,

you still looking for an early one? and how early.

Id really suggest you look into the early F models. That being said, i may very well have a line on the nicest surviving 75 goldwing i have ever seen. Yeah, i know... but man its nice. I may get it myself... just depends.

No....I've lost interest. I couldn't find what I'd like for a price I can afford. I would love to have a first year low mileage one at the gap to drag a 1/4 mile against a first year H1...both bone stock.

Really nice Goldwing there....would be a nice bike for distance.

yeah, i know. i felt kind of 'dirty' myself. I rebuilt the carbs on it for the owner. they were a mess from sitting. never seen this before but the brass on the needles actually eroded. :wtf: Yes, i replaced them, wasnt easy finding correct new replacements.
everything else was taken care of.. but its all original, paint, etc

If that Early wing has a bog or flat spot at 2500 rpm lift off like they all do, there is a fix for it on Steve Saunders goldwing pages. its not your fault!!!
Careful early wings are addictive! properly tuned, they run like a scalded dog. 75-77 goldwings are performance bikes, and they mean it. While my hot rod 82 will whip one handily, stock its GL1000 all the way. I will post pics of my 26,000 mile 76 when its painted. They will carry the front wheel, and were built to run with the Z1, and GS850s. And they did. I am sure on the road a proper early Gl1000 as sold, and in good tune, on a 45 mph throttle roll will walk right away from an H1, or H2. because the fuel is below the seat, and the engine is low and flat they will corner like you have never seen. The GL1000 is a benchmark and until late 77 when the EPA threw a brick at them, they were indeed superbikes. Many think they are slow old road sofas. Do NOT bet more then a 6 pack that you can whip one. And if you see my silver 82, well get your wallet out. I have a vance and hines tuned exhaust, an aluminum intake with a weber 2bbl, and cams from a 76 gl1000. Hds have no chance. in fact i would do a freeway roll on against any bike. Its very very strong at 70 mph. sadly aerodynamics stink, so 85-90 is all you wanna go on an aspencade or interstate.

How did that red one run when it was done? it should have been REALLY impressive.

so did you shim the main jets per the fix? its a low fuel condition in the 2000-2500 rpm range and they all have it. i bet with those worn out needles that one didnt, its most niceable with new jets.I wonder how junk the emulsion tubes were. Good Job!

its throttle position, not an rpm thing. larger pilots and a bit richer on the fuel screw. proper synching w/legit merc. sticks (within 1cm). new, and i mean NEW needles and jet tubes from japan. they were NOT cheap. also resealed the caps(plastic inserts) with a phelolic 2-part epoxy that is clear so there are no leaks there.

this is the original owner, and he swears it never ran as well as after i got done with it. its been almost 20 years since he rode it though, but i must say, it was very nice to ride it myself..

yes that the ticket, there is a position in those carbs where they are too lean, most of them cannot be adjusted out, so they put a shim under the needle stop to give it more fuel, and change the jet size so it does not overfuel. You could make an industry of those early goldwings, especially the carbs.
