they can be surprisingly fast, the trick is in the tuning. I still have 7 or 8 of them. 71-72 are my favorites, KO is just too high priced. 69-70 are both KOs And I am appaled by the actions of some people with these beautiful machines. The opening move is always the hacksaw.

I have never cut a cb750 frame... yet, i am going to cafe a 78 over the winter. hide the electrical, dump the electric starter, shave the tabs, bare bike, bare frame. But i normally only like all originals of any bike.
many have seen this pic before, its my sons bike. Not so much as a file mark in that frame. It can be restored real easy.
71 with a 78 front end and swing arm {longer} dyna glide fender, shorter shocks, 4 into 1, and the chrome was there already, tank and covers done in california in early 70s bought off ebay centuries ago for $30.

I have a friend that has been sitting on one for a couple of years I believe a stock 76. I can check with him if you would like to see if he is interested in selling.

The couple times I had these apart, these don't wear much both bottom and top end. The Honda twins seem to much more, but the fours just keep going without much to worry about. With only 10k, it has many many miles in front of it! I had mine apart (weepy head gasket) with 22k and the rocker arms were perfect. Parts are cheap too

Mines ratty, but I got it for free, so I can't complain too much.

Here it is when it was given to me - no title, original owner decided to check out of life and left the bike at a dealership with a - get this - $4000.00 bill for repairs due!

The frame was cut, I rode it once with the forks extended like that, that was enough.

Sold the handlebars

I chopped it down a bit, still need to find the correct size fork tubes and get a title -

Only a track bike now, sure sounds sweet with the open 4-1....

Good bikes, and I might be the first to say, you can make them run fine with points. Electronic is sure easier.

I bought a new CB500 in 1972 for around $1200 I think it was and made payments on it for 2 years. I was not much more than a kid at the time and could not afford a CB750 which was out of reach at over $1700. I remember the CB500 rode like a Cadillac compared to my buddies new 1971 500 Mach III thrashing machine but he could blow by me pulling wheelies whenever he wanted (and with a big grin on his face). I promised myself then one of these days I gotta get one of those.
