I need a basic start point for all the jets, motor is Gary Clarkes ex drag bike engine, I added Redline reeds etc, carbs are 38mm Mikuni flat slids with power jets.

The bike starts without choke first kick but bogs down soon as the throttle is opened.

The bike is going to Dyno for set up but the guy doesn't have any triple experiance so would like the bike somewhere close to running before dropping it off.

So any help from the drag racers? you must have spec sheets!

I'm no carb tuning genius, but add fuel. It cant hurt. raise the needles, increase main jet (one change at a time). If it makes it worse, you know whats up and it didnt blow up.

sounds like its "gulping" too much air, but who knows on this end

It would help to know what jets, needle and needle jet is in the carbs.

I hope the guy doing the dyno knows how to dyno a 2-stroke.

Make sure the dyno has a brake and do not let him pull in the clutch at high rpm if the clutch system is stock, it will usually weld the rods together and sometimes weld the rods to the trans shaft.

It's Mark Dent from Performance Fabrications doing the set up, he's a God with RG 500's etc, there's no point looking to see what jets are in the carbs as it's so far out, I just thought someone would have a basic starting sheet from the drag scene.

For those that care:
The reed blocks Cabbie has are based on the later designs by Bill Baxter and Darren Abrams (Loren's Racing Engines) that use an Artic Cat specific reed block.
Cabbie's engine (former Gary Clark drag motor) was built by Chris Richie and use this same style block.
The mcahine work to mount these is difficult and I believe that Darren, Chris, and maybe Henry McGee are the only ones I know that have done this set up.

Darren loaned me 1 block awhile back and I made 5 sets.
It just occured to me that I owe Darren a set and that I need to call him right now.
RB bought a set and am pretty sure Chris mounted these as well.
If you can ever get a hold of Mr. Brett, he may remember where he started with jetting.

Now the big thing Cabbie; you better get this right mate as Chris is surely looking down and would want this thing to run as as strong as possible.
Pretty sure God will F you up if things go poorly; no pressure
