Ok, Ive done everything possible to clean and tune my carbs and absolutely no change in performance whatsoever. I tore them down 3 times now including removing the main jet body and used a very small wire to clean out the small holes. Ive tried 3 differnt jets and still no change except when I used the 102 jets it seemed to give me a little more throttle but not much more.
It idles wonderfully and revs like no tomorrow but when I try to give it anymore than 1/4 throttle when riding it only moans and blows a lot of smoke. I'm guessing it's not picking up fuel through the main jet for whatever reason because to me it feels like it's not getting enough fuel and way to much air. I know someone has had this problem and I sure would like to know what is going on with it. Ive tried adjusting the air screws, syncrnized the carbs as well as idle according to mraxles resouce page. I was wondering if khs carbs will fit my bike because I do have a set of those but they need to be cleaned also. My bike is a '73 h1d any help would be awsome.

What it takes in it must move out........not sure what pipes you have but have you pulled the baffles, cleaned them of all carbon/repacked them? Also have you checked/adjusted your timing properly?

Are your oil line check valves set to the proper relief pressure? They usually pop at just over 2psi or less and that will cause to much oil and it will run like crap.
When I built my H1 years ago I had taken the check valves apart and put the spring in backwards on 2 of the cylinders. For weeks I thought it was a carb problem
but it was to much oil. http://kawtriple.com/mraxl/checkvalves.htm If you look closely at the springs one end is tightly wound and that goes toward the check ball. http://3cyl.com/mraxl/TomsTips/oil_lines.htm

Will it take throttle if you slowly roll it on? And what if any mods....

Did the bike run well at some point with the same carb setup?
If it seems to go lean above 1/4 throttle, try raising the needle a notch and see if it improves.

When slowly giving it throttle it slowly starts to moan, I have sp-2 chambers. I did pull the baffles and they were dirty but all the holes were clear.

I bought the bike a few months ago and it had a bad ignition system, I bought Jims cdi's and set the air gap. It's never run past 1/4 throttle successfully. I will try raising the needle next. Can I use carbs off a khs 500?

The bike hardly smokes at all when idling or reving it in neutral. It does not smoke when cruising around at 1/4 throttle. It only smokes alot when at wot which seems to make sense being theres no fuel to mix with the load imposed on it. I think the oil pump is working like it's supposed to.

KH carbs are the same carbs, just some different internals. you are either super lean on the needle or the crank seals are shot.

Crank seals sounds like surgery! don't want to go there is there an easy fix for these seals? or a step by step procedure? thx
