It's corroded, and missing pieces, but the windings check out OK(and thats what I was really after). It was also MUCH cheaper than all the similar(or worse) condition units I've come across...

Speaking of no a/c, back in the 80's, I drove a non-a/c 1964 Bug for 8 years in Sacramento, which could peak around 104°-106°. I couldn't do that now -
I'm spoiled by cold air blowing through the vents!

Anyway, I just picked up two items at good ol' HB. The dolly is currently $69.99 on sale, but that's too much :shh: so I first purchased this coupon off ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190686094337, then hoped they would accept it, which thankfully they did w/o any reservations.
So that saved me around $22 (coupon price included)!

While I was standing in line listening to a customer cuss and moan about who knows what, I noticed this folding knife on a peg. I had tried to purchase
one awhile back, but they were out then, and since they are currently on sale for $1.99 (reg $2.99), I picked one up. Note: these are held together by
some pressed in pins, not by screws (cheap I know).

I'll give you a tip on those stands, glue on, or drape some cloth over the front part. Warm tires stick hard to them and you can't get out of them.

Thanks for the tip J. Dave will tell you though, I normally ride in cruise mode compared to those other redline riders, so my tires will likely be luke warm after a ride...I can see it happening though and will keep an eye on that.

Others have also stated the need to add washers to the cradle pivot, to shim up side-to-side movement due to excess clearance, and also to either fasten to a wood board or place on a piece of carpet, to keep the assembly from moving with the bike when backing out of it. My plan is to fasten to a board that will sit in the area just ahead of the rear wheel wells in my truck bed, to help keep it all in place, then add tie-downs to cinch it all up.

Even cold tires will stick, that's probably why the guys say use carpet or wood
