This is a pic I took over 20 years ago of the lovely bike Dave Crussell built before he went west to seek his fortune. It has been shortened probably about three inches.

Does anyone know if there is anyway to lighten up the motor? Any tricks of things to cut down / remove / replace / ect..?

Thanks!!

Not a weight savings idea, but a horsepower gain by using ceramic crank bearings. Pricey, but a huge friction reducer. I am not sure of the HP gains. You can also apply this to the wheel bearings as well. A crank rebuild with the ceramic bearings runs in the neighborhood of $950.00. Ouch!!!

How are the ceramics compared to regular crank bearings in terms of reliabilty?
