I noticed I was missing a Uni filter from my Moto Guzzi. I checked the other one and it was hanging on by a thread. Has anyone else had one fail like this? It's five years old. I have K&Ns that are 30 years old and still OK.

Not me Jim. I've had some old ones where the foam has started to disintegrate, but never the rubber like that.

I haven't seen the rubber parts fail yet. The foam is only good for a year or two on my bikes, then it disintegrates.

They're well made for sure, but I don't like the way you can see through them if you hold them up to the light.

Jim, not sure it would've helped in this instance, but after repeatedly losing filters when I had my KH400, I've since hooked a spring through the rubber where it meets the filter material, and then hook the other end around the brass choke plunger. This way you don't have to tighten the filter clamps nearly as much in order to keep them on the carbs. And if one does come loose, it'll still be on your bike, not down the road 50 miles back.
