Hi Guys,
Haven't been on since last year but excited to see you all at the Gap shortly.
I have a 72' H2, EX500 caliper, master cylinder, fork cartridge emulators, Red Wing Hammer heads, John 06 iggy, Denco's, all stock steel tins, super reliable, needs paint.
Tons of spares.

I rarely ride this bike.
What is something like this worth these days?
Am I crazy to sell it since it needs nothing and runs great?
Aside from the vibration, I just can't get the bike quiet enough to ride in this suburban area.
Suggestions?

Tough one since H2's are dear to many of us for many reasons (like owning mine since I was 18).

But maybe if you're not riding, not planning on riding it and it's just collecting dust maybe sell it and someone else can enjoy it.

Several years ago I cleaned out my stable of many bikes that I did not ride just liked to collect - most of them were CB's, old dirt bikes or other bikes not worth much money but every one went to someone who wanted it.

Price, what the market will support - I have no idea anymore.

I would suggest not making a decision before the Gap. You may decide one way or another after being around others.

Unless you want to bring it and put it up for sale.

I think you will regret selling it.

The other thing to think about is the going rate isn't going to last forever, they will always be classics but eventually prices will drop. That being said I could never sell mine...Im having a tough time justifying the few motorcycle I have and I can't seem to part with any of them.

And on the other note similar to what you said, I have recently found out someone in the neighbor hood is complaining about "dirt bikes" being ridden around, I know he is taking about either my H2 or the TS 250 and the TS is totally stock, and I don't purposely make extra noise and am pretty careful to respect speed limits and noise in and around town, this is a SMALL town. But the world is ever changing and I guess the two stroke sound is unacceptable, no one ever complains about the 200 Harleys that ride into town every weekend, but without them the local establishments may go bankrupt!!

My advice don't sell. There pretty rare, but I don't even take my advice so.......

If you don't need the money, keep it. I'm sure you got your values worth in "fun".

My 2 cents are, if you have room to store it, and don't need the money desperately, then keep it. However many in this group are getting on in the years and in that grim thought, it's better for a treasured bike to go to a proper owner than some greedy relative who would just auction it and all your crap off. I have real trouble selling bikes and equipment and seem to just get larger and larger shops to keep it all..... My younger brother has had some cool stuff, like a 1992 TZR250 (3MA? dry clutch, rear exhaust) and sold it just because he needed the money, and didn't offer it to me. Some people....

Add internal stingers to the chambers and repack with clean fiberglass and they'll be as quiet at stock pipes. You can weld the stingers to your existing baffles, so you don't have to modify the pipes.

Did that years ago and no way close to stock SPL IMO.
You gave me the instructions!

The double wall tubing of the stocker makes a huge difference.
I changed the pipes on my ZRX with SS headers and used the stock muffler and it got a bunch louder.

I really appreciate all your advice you guys.
